Ed Pierson, a whistleblower who previously worked at Boeing, has been raising safety concerns about Boeing's 737 Max planes for years. Pierson first blew the whistle in 2018, citing rushed production of the 737 MAX aircraft and has since continued to point out safety issues with Boeing's oversight of these planes. He wasn't surprised by a recent incident where a Boeing 737 MAX had to make an emergency landing due to a door plug blowing out, as he had been monitoring ongoing problems. Pierson worked at a Boeing factory in Washington and witnessed deteriorating working conditions and an increase in human errors due to fatigue starting in 2017. He requested a shutdown of the factory to address these concerns in 2018 but left Boeing in August of that year, primarily due to unresolved safety concerns. Two MAX airplanes later crashed in 2018, resulting in hundreds of deaths. In 2019, Pierson testified before the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, stating that his warnings were ignored, and Boeing prioritized production speed over safety. He continued to highlight safety issues with the 737 MAXs, releasing a report in 2021 titled "Boeing 737 MAX – Still Not Fixed."
